My name is Elizabeth but my friends call me Betty...and I want to be everyone's friend; so Betty it is! I've had sort of a rough go of it but SWAT tells me my luck is about to turn around. They told me to tell my story and then someday, I could come back and tell the REST of the story, about me being happy and loved in Forever..so here goes. I'm about 3-4 years old, Golden Retriever, GSD mix. I 'm a big girl, about 65 lbs...and could really stand to put on a few more.
I had a home when I was younger but then those people gave me away to some other people and that's where the problems really began. They had a fenced yard but it was all broken and stuff and I could walk right out. Being a dog and all, and stuck in the backyard all the time with no one to play with me or talk with me, that's exactly what I did...I walked out of the fence, more than once. So, instead of fixing the fence, they tied me out in the yard. They didn't bother to get me out of the baby making business so there I was tied up, unable to really defend myself and every male dog in the neighborhood walk in the fence the same way I walked out..and, well, you can guess the rest. It was pretty horrible. I ended up pregnant and now I can't even remember what happened to my babies, I just know I don't have them any more. I decided to try, one last time to make my escape. I chewed through the ropes and took off running. A really nice guy that ended up being one of my shelter friends, picked me up on the street and brought me to the shelter. I don't think my old family is coming back for me and that makes me very happy. It's a little scary here but I know when my REAL family finds me, I'm going to be the happiest dog ever. If you'd like to meet me, ask for Betty.
