I’m Ruff and let me tell ya, I’ve had a pretty “ruff” life. I’m only 6 months old, but I have gone through way more than any puppy should ever go through. I was born into a large family, large in number and large in breed. I think mom was a Great Dane mix… When we grew big enough to wander away from mom, we were tossed into a cardboard box with the word “FREE” written on the front. I was one of th e last puppies picked to go to a “good home.” That home lasted all of two weeks before I was outgrown by the tiny human in the house. So, I was given away to another family who turned me out into the cold, by myself. I spent the last 3 and a half months living on my own searching for food, fighting the itchy fleas and biting ticks, avoiding being hit by the giant cars on the streets, trying to find a safe place to sleep at night. All of that changed on April 30th. Someone picked me up, fed me and brought me here, to the shelter. I have to say, this place is way better than what I had. I have a safe place to sleep at night, I get food everyday, I get all of the water I could ever ask for, the humans picked off over 100 of those biting ticks and they got rid of those itchy fleas. It’s safe to say, I am feeling so much better. My poor little ears do have tears on the ends…I can’t remember how I got those, but they have since healed and are doing much better. The best thing I get around here is attention and love. I’ve never really had that before so I’m soaking in as much as I can. I hear that a forever family is out there somewhere for me, just for me. I really hope it is forever this time…I’m ready to move in with a family who will truly love me and take care of me. That’s something I have longed for since the very beginning. So, are my shelter humans right? Is there a family out there just for me? If so, I cannot wait to meet you.
